Key Responsibilities
As our Manager, you will be the driving force behind our new centre. Your role will be diverse, hands-on, and central to our success.
- You will lead all daily operations, managing a small team to deliver excellent customer service and efficient yard management.
- A core part of your job will be growing sales, using your skills to build relationships with both retail shoppers and trade customers.
- You will have significant influence over our product selection, choosing the stock that will define our centre’s reputation for quality.
- Using your experience with supplier accounts, you will nurture strong trade relationships to ensure we have the best products.
- Overseeing our point-of-sale (POS) system and helping to manage our online store will be key to smooth operations.
- You will be the public face of our business, solving problems, providing expert advice, and building a loyal customer community in Eltham.
Qualifications
We are looking for a leader with a proven track record in this specific industry. The right candidate will bring:
- At least five years of experience managing a landscape supplies yard or a garden centre. This hands-on management background is essential.
- A demonstrable history of achieving strong sales results, with experience in both retail and trade environments.
- Excellent people skills you need to be able to lead a team, negotiate with suppliers, and build rapport with every customer who walks in.
- Practical computer skills, with experience using systems like Microsoft SharePoint and modern POS software.
- A proactive, can-do attitude. We need a leader who is hands-on, sees solutions, and is ready to tackle the challenges of a launch.
- A forklift licence, or the willingness to obtain one quickly, is highly desirable for this role.
