Key Responsibilities
As a Custodian, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that ensure the upkeep and security of our school. Your core duties will include:
- Performing daily cleaning of classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and offices, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces and fixtures.
- Ensuring the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, are neat, clean, and free of rubbish at all times.
- Conducting seasonal tasks such as snow removal from walkways and steps, and washing interior and exterior windows.
- Performing daily security checks to ensure all exit doors are properly locked and panic hardware is functional during school hours.
- Cleaning all whiteboards-chalkboards and disinfecting water fountains daily.
- Reporting any major maintenance or custodial concerns promptly to the Director of Maintenance.
- Communicating effectively with other custodial staff and following directions from the Director of Maintenance and Building Principal.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED.
- The ability to read and follow basic instructions for cleaning supplies and tasks.
- The physical capability to lift at least 50 pounds, use an 8-foot ladder, and perform sustained physical activity including standing, walking, and bending.
- Reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
