Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for executing critical surface preparation and coating tasks to exacting standards. Your duties will include:
- Performing surface preparation using abrasive blasting and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Applying industrial epoxy and fire protection coatings using airless spray equipment on steel and other surfaces.
- Reading and interpreting structural drawings and specifications to guide project work.
- Coordinating effectively on-site with supervisors, team members, and other contractors.
- Ensuring all work complies with industry standards, client specifications, and strict safety regulations.
- Accurately completing quality assurance documentation, including wet film gauge and Positech logs.
- Driving company vehicles to job sites and being flexible for travel, including overnight stays, weekends, and overtime as project demands require.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following key requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in:
- Abrasive blasting
- Steelwork preparation (mechanical and manual)
- Industrial painting with epoxy coatings
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding industrial environments.
- A strong, reliable work ethic and excellent teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to travel and work away from home as needed for projects.
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence.
Highly Beneficial Experience:
- Supervisory or team lead experience.
- Familiarity with QA procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency with airless spray and blast equipment.
- Previous experience working on hydro stations or similar heavy industrial sites.
