Key Responsibilities

In this project-based role, you will be responsible for the complete industrial painting process. Your duties will include:

  • Performing advanced surface preparation on steel using methods such as abrasive blasting, needle guns, scrapers, and wire brushes.
  • Building, shaping, and levelling surfaces to specification prior to coating.
  • Accurately mixing and measuring two-part/epoxy and other industrial coating systems.
  • Applying a range of standard and specialised industrial coatings to a high technical and aesthetic standard.
  • Working safely in marine and heavy industrial environments, including following strict protocols for chemical solvent treatments and hazardous substances.

Qualifications

To be considered for this specialised work, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years of proven, hands-on experience in surface preparation and coating application within a heavy industrial or similar environment (e.g., marine, oil and gas, infrastructure).
  • In-depth knowledge of safe coating application processes, equipment use, and hazardous substance handling.
  • Specific familiarity with preparing metal in marine environments, including chemical solvent treatments.
  • Current Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and Confined Space tickets. Willingness to obtain these prior to the project start is mandatory.
  • You must be a resident of New Zealand with full working rights.
