About the Role
This is a permanent part-time position within our City Businesses department. You’ll be working directly in our Reuse Shop, a key part of our mission to divert waste from landfill. Your work will involve customer service, retail operations, and resource recovery all contributing to a more sustainable community. Two positions are available with a unique rotating fortnightly roster, offering a great work-life balance.
Your Key Responsibilities
You will be the face of our reuse efforts, providing excellent service while promoting sustainability.
- Provide outstanding customer service: greet visitors, answer questions, process payments (cash and EFTPOS), and offer waste disposal advice.
- Manage the collection, presentation, and sale of reusable materials to maximise diversion from landfill.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and visually appealing Reuse Shop, following pricing guidelines.
- Conduct load inspections and direct customers to the correct disposal or recycling areas.
- Operate the Reuse Shop, complete necessary documentation, and handle daily cash reconciliations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to identify opportunities to increase sales and diversion rates.
- Safely utilise and maintain all plant, equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Essential Skills aand Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated team player with a practical skillset.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence (MR Licence is desirable).
- General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
- Demonstrated experience in a relevant role, including cash handling.
- Proven ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
- Strong time management, planning, and basic computer skills.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to safety.
- Desirable: National Certificate of Competency for Forklift (LF), or willingness to obtain.
- In line with WHS requirements, vaccination for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus is required.

- Work-Life Balance: A permanent part-time roster of 29 hours per fortnight (Week 1: Thu-Fri, Week 2: Sat-Sun, 8:00 am – 3:45 pm).
- Attractive Remuneration: A package starting at $920.68 gross per fortnight with progression to $1,104.82 gross per fortnight + 12% superannuation. Penalty rates apply for weekend work.
