Every day, thousands of doors open and close without a second thought until one doesn’t. That’s where you come in. Duffett Doors, a division of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Industrial, is looking for a Service Technician in Auckland to keep automatic doors, roller shutters, grilles, and docking solutions operating smoothly across the city. If you’re someone who enjoys working with your hands, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and having a different view out the window every day, this role offers all that and more. You’ll be independent, trusted, and supported by a global leader in access solutions.
About the Company
Duffett Doors has built a reputation in New Zealand for delivering quality entrance solutions across a huge range of settings—from logistics warehouses to retail storefronts. As part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, we’re backed by a global team of nearly 50,000 colleagues across more than 70 countries. But being part of something big doesn’t mean you’re just a number here. We believe in empowering our people to build careers around their own aspirations, whether that means growing locally or exploring opportunities internationally. Results matter more than job titles, and we’re committed to supporting you with training, feedback, and the freedom to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll perform planned preventative maintenance, repairs, and servicing on a wide range of entrance solutions—auto doors, roller shutters, grilles, and docking equipment—making sure customers can count on their gear day in, day out.
Every job includes a focus on safety. You’ll carry out routine checks to ensure everything meets national and local standards, protecting both the customer and the public.
When you’re on site, you represent Duffett Doors and ASSA ABLOY. You’ll advise customers on any prospective work needed, explain what you’ve done, and answer their questions clearly and professionally.
You won’t be completely on your own. You’ll work closely with colleagues in sales and technical support, sharing insights and getting backup when you need it.
Every site is different, and challenges pop up unexpectedly. You’ll think on your feet, diagnose issues, and figure out the best way to get things working again.
What You Bring
You have a genuine interest in how things work—hydraulics, mechanics, electronics—and you’re comfortable getting stuck in. Mechanical and electrical competence is essential.
Jobs change, locations change, but customers need to know they can count on you. You’re flexible enough to adapt and reliable enough to show up when you say you will.
You understand why safety rules exist and you follow them without exception. You’re comfortable working at height and hold the necessary licences, including forklift and EWP.
You’re easy to talk to, approachable, and genuinely want to help people. Customers remember how you made them feel, not just whether the door works.
You thrive in different environments—one day you’re in a busy logistics hub, the next you’re in a back-store loading bay. The variety keeps things interesting.
You can explain technical issues in plain language, whether you’re talking to a warehouse manager or a shop owner. People appreciate clear, honest communication.
What We Offer
You’ll get a fully equipped company vehicle, high-quality tools, work attire, and modern safety gear. We take your safety seriously, so you’ll have the right equipment for every job.
A tablet and phone are provided, so you’re never out of touch with the team or struggling to access job details.
isn’t a dead-end role. We invest in our people with regular training, collaboration with experienced colleagues, and pathways to grow your career—locally, regionally, or even internationally.
We trust you to manage your day, make decisions, and take ownership. Results matter more than micromanagement.
With nearly 50,000 colleagues worldwide, you’re part of something bigger. But we’ve structured our teams so you still feel connected, supported, and valued as an individual.
