We are looking for a qualified Welder with Higher NITEC certification, BCSS accreditation, and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience. You should be proficient in multiple welding processes and capable of welding in positions from 3G through 6G. This is not a casual shop role. It is a permanent position with a leading engineering company in Singapore, offering a competitive $4,500 basic salary plus performance bonuses. If you hold the certifications and can produce code-quality welds consistently, this is the role you have been waiting for.
Company Overview
We are a well-established engineering firm in Singapore serving the oil and gas, petrochemical, and precision fabrication sectors. Our work involves pressure-containing components, structural assemblies, and critical process equipment that must meet stringent client specifications and international code requirements.
Unlike general fabrication shops, we operate with engineering oversight, formal quality control systems, and third-party inspection hold points. Our welders are expected to understand welding procedure specifications, select appropriate parameters, and produce work that passes visual and NDT examination without rework. We invest in certified, skilled tradespeople and reward performance accordingly. If you are looking for a stable, technically demanding environment where your certification and skill are recognized, you have found it.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and other applicable processes on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
- Weld in all positions flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead corresponding to 3G, 4G, 5G, and 6G qualifications as required by project specifications.
- Set up welding equipment, including power sources, wire feeders, torch assemblies, and gas regulators, to parameters defined in approved welding procedure specifications.
- Select appropriate filler metals, shielding gases, and tungsten electrodes based on base material, joint configuration, and process requirements.
- Perform gas cutting, beveling, and gouging using oxy-fuel and plasma arc equipment to prepare joints for welding.
- Inspect completed welds visually for surface discontinuities, proper penetration, bead profile, and dimensional conformance.
- Maintain welding equipment in good working order, performing routine maintenance and reporting malfunctions promptly.
- Work safely at all times, adhering to BCSS-certified practices, hot work permit systems, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate with fitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel to resolve fit-up issues and meet production schedules.
- Participate in ongoing welder qualification testing as required to maintain certification status.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in compliance with company 5S and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
- Higher NITEC certification in Welding, Fabrication, or a related engineering discipline.
- BCSS (Basic Construction Safety Certification) or equivalent recognized safety credential.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of verifiable welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes, including SMAW and GMAW.
- Ability to weld in positions up to 6G tested and certified.
- Competent in gas cutting, plasma cutting, and joint preparation techniques.
- Strong understanding of weld quality requirements, including bead profile, fusion, penetration, and defect recognition.
- Physically capable of standing, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods.
- Singaporean, PR, or valid work pass holder with authorization to work locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in TIG welding, FCAW, or specialized alloy welding.
- Experience working with pressure equipment, piping systems, or structural codes such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, or equivalent.
- Previous employment with engineering firms serving oil and gas, marine, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Willingness to undergo periodic welder qualification renewals and performance testing.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive basic salary of $4,500 per month, commensurate with certification and experience.
- Performance-based bonuses for consistent quality, productivity, and positive inspection results.
- Permanent full-time employment with a leading Singapore engineering company.
- Code-quality work environment. You will weld to procedures, not guesswork, with proper equipment and consumables provided.
- Recognition of certification. Your Higher NITEC and 6G capability are valued and compensated accordingly.
- Safe, compliant workplace. BCSS standards are not just a hiring filter they are embedded in our daily operations.
- Career stability. We retain skilled welders who produce consistent, inspection-ready work.
- Opportunity to work on technically demanding projects in oil and gas, petrochemical, and precision engineering sectors.
