Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for a range of fabrication and welding tasks. Your duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide your work.
- Operating manual, semi-automatic, and previously set-up welding equipment (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OAW) to fabricate and repair metal parts.
- Using flame-cutting equipment, brakes, shears, and other metal shaping tools to prepare and form materials.
- Examining your welds to ensure they meet required standards and specifications for quality and safety.
- Performing minor maintenance and repairs on welding and shop equipment to ensure everything is in good working order.
- Contributing to the fabrication of structural components, fencing, balconies, stairs, and railings.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and attributes:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in key welding techniques: Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW/TIG), and Oxy-Acetylene (OAW).
- The ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination.
- Must have your own steel-toed safety boots.
- The ability to handle materials weighing up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
