Need Technician, Field Service In Japan

In this role, you will provide maintenance services for mission critical communication systems used by airlines and private flight operators. You will support the deployment of ACARS radio stations across Japan, ensuring smooth implementation and stable operations after system cutover. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and deployment of radio station sites as planned, working closely with the project manager, engineering teams, and partner Nippon Airport Radio to refine designs based on local conditions.
  • Propose cost reduction ideas and alternative solutions to meet customer needs and maximize solution effectiveness.
  • Communicate with external agencies including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, RF operators, digital service providers, airlines, and other commercial operators regarding interference testing.
  •  Collaborate with internal and external teams to assist with change management, risk assessment, and schedule management for efficient on time project completion.
  •  Provide ongoing operations support in collaboration with Nippon Airport Radio to ensure stable system performance.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to support information gathering, root cause analysis, and customer reporting when issues arise.
  • Resolve a wide range of GlobaLink technical issues, including those related to the ACARS system.
  •  Conduct regular service reviews, respond promptly to customer inquiries from airlines, and provide service information and incident reports.
  • Take responsibility for agreed Service Level Agreement targets on system operations, including server and network performance.
  • Serve as the primary customer point of contact for hardware maintenance, service level compliance, escalations, and installations.
  • Develop system operation manuals, prepare training materials, and conduct training sessions for system users.
  • Perform daily and monthly system checks, promoting continual quality improvements.
  • Take on additional projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Three or more years of datacenter maintenance experience is preferred. You should have a solid understanding of networks and communication systems. A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training is required. Experience communicating with all levels of line management is essential. You must have effective communication skills in Japanese, including written, oral, and presentation abilities, as well as strong negotiation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Basic written and conversational English is required. Skills and experience working with Linux systems are preferred. This role is primarily onsite, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM JST, with Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese national holidays off.
