  • Providing academic guidance and pastoral support to students, helping to build their confidence, improve retention, and prepare them for apprenticeships or employment.
  • Embedding health, safety, and environmental best practices into every aspect of training delivery.
  • Contributing to curriculum development, assessment moderation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Actively building and maintaining relationships with industry partners to ensure training remains relevant and connected to employment opportunities.

  • A NZ Certificate in Painting & Decorating (Level 4) or an equivalent recognised trade qualification.
  • Substantial, proven industry experience as a painter and plasterer.
  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or training others. A formal teaching qualification is an advantage, but a commitment to working towards one is welcomed.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with and inspire young learners.
  • A patient, empathetic, and student-centred approach.
  • Basic IT and administrative skills for reporting and record-keeping.
  • Experience working with Pacific learners or diverse communities is highly valued.

  • Directly shape the future of the industry by training and mentoring the next generation of tradespeople.
  • Opportunities for ongoing training and support to gain or further a teaching qualification.
  • A full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) within a respected training organisation.
