Key Responsibilities

As a Malting Technician, you will be essential to the smooth operation of our malthouse, working autonomously within a team to meet production goals. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Operating, cleaning, sterilizing, and performing autonomous maintenance on assigned processing equipment to ensure efficiency and quality standards.
  • Prioritizing daily activities to support all areas of the malting process, often with minimal direct supervision, and effectively leveraging your team members.
  • Maintaining strict compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) training and protocols, fostering a safe work environment for all.
  • Monitoring process parameters, identifying quality exceptions, and taking timely corrective action to maintain product standards.
  • Verifying, correcting, and distributing accurate inventory records, shift logs, scorecards, and other essential paperwork to support operations and accounting.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues, writing and tracking work orders, and coordinating with Maintenance Specialists to resolve problems.
  • Building positive team relationships, supporting conflict resolution, and participating in the training and certification of new or temporary team members.

Qualifications

We are seeking reliable, proactive individuals ready to contribute to a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  •  A working knowledge of malting processes or prior experience in food/beverage manufacturing is strongly preferred. While labeled as entry-level, experience in Golden Malting operations is a key asset.
  •  This is a strenuous role requiring the ability to regularly lift, push, and pull forces over 50 pounds. The work environment can be hot, cold, wet, noisy, and dusty, and involves the use of chemical cleaning agents.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with basic troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a dependable team player and a self-starter who can prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard software (SAP, Excel, Word) is desired.
  • An understanding of utility systems, process controls (PC, HMI, MES), and inventory control is beneficial.
