Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be tasked with performing welds that meet strict structural and certification standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Executing high-quality Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on EH-36 plate steel in 3G and 4G positions, with certification for unlimited thickness.
- Performing precision Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and SMAW in the challenging 6G and 6GR positions on piping systems.
- Interpreting project specifications and weld procedures to ensure all work complies with required codes and client standards, particularly ABS rules.
- Conducting self-inspection of welds and preparing work for official third-party testing and certification.
- Maintaining all personal certifications and ensuring work practices align with the latest industry safety and quality protocols.
- Adapting to various project sites and working effectively as part of a team to meet critical deadlines.
Qualifications
This position demands specific, verifiable credentials and experience. The mandatory requirements are:
- Valid ABS certification for SMAW 3G-4G on EH-36 steel with unlimited plate thickness.
- Valid ABS certification for 6G position welding (GTAW-SMAW). Certification for 6GR is a significant advantage.
- A portfolio of other relevant welding training certificates for skills evaluation.
- Proven professional experience applying these certifications in a shipyard, fabrication, or similar heavy industrial environment.
