Key Responsibilities
- Ensure guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner to support seamless guest arrivals and departures.
- Work effectively with the Engineering department on guest room maintenance needs, coordinating repairs and ensuring follow up.
- Supervise the property general cleaning schedule, ensuring all areas are maintained to the highest standards.
- Obtain lists of rooms to be cleaned immediately and lists of prospective check outs or discharges to prepare work assignments efficiently.
- Inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies of guestroom amenities, cleaning supplies, and uniforms.
- Supervise daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensure compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support and supervise an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space, maintaining quality standards.
- Communicate areas that need attention to staff and follow up to ensure understanding and corrective action.
- Ensure all employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms to perform their duties effectively.
- Participate in the management of the department’s controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
- Understand the impact of department operations on overall property financial goals and manage to achieve or exceed budgeted objectives.
- Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints with professionalism and care.
- Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and emphasize guest satisfaction during departmental meetings.
- Participate in employee performance appraisal, interviewing, hiring, and training processes to build a strong team.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED with two years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional area is required. Alternatively, a two year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with no work experience required will be considered. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential. The ability to manage staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives is important. Experience with budgeting, operating statements, and payroll progress reports is valued. A commitment to guest satisfaction and continuous improvement is essential. The ability to administer property policies fairly and consistently is required.
