Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate metal working machinery including lathes, mills, grinders, and drills to produce precision components for agricultural equipment.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining and welding requirements.
  3. Perform welding tasks using appropriate techniques to fabricate and repair aftermarket parts.
  4. Use an overhead crane to move heavy materials and finished components safely around the shop.
  5. Conduct quality checks on finished parts, ensuring they meet tolerances and specifications.
  6. Maintain a clean and organised work area, following all safety protocols.
  7. Collaborate with team members on incremental improvements to designs and processes.

What You Need to Qualify

Preferred two years of welding experience is required, with relevant experience as a welder or welding apprentice. A pre employment weld test will be administered. Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities are essential. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates will be required to use an overhead crane; current certification is an asset. A valid driver’s licence is preferred for local commuting. You must be authorized to work in Canada. Ideally, you are local to the Sunnybrook area. Physical fitness for standing, lifting, and manual dexterity is required.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this Machinist position ranges from 28 to 34 Canadian dollars per hour based on experience and qualifications, which aligns with current market rates for skilled machinists and welders in Alberta.
