Key Responsibilities
- Plan or adjust driving routes based on changing weather, traffic, or road conditions using computer equipment and GPS devices to minimize fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions
- Oversee the condition of your vehicle by inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage units, and other equipment before, during, and after each trip
- Perform pre trip, en route, and post trip inspections, overseeing all aspects of vehicle safety and readiness
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch, including updates on location, delivery status, and any issues encountered
- Tarp cargo securely and ensure the safety and security of all loads, especially on flatbed trailers
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers, dispatchers, and other road users
- Complete all required logs, trip reports, and inspection forms accurately and on time
Qualifications
A secondary high school graduation certificate is required. You must hold a valid AZ class license. Two to three years of experience driving flatbed or tractor trailer combinations is necessary. You need a valid driver license, a clean driving record check, and a driver validity license check. Experience with local and regional transportation is expected. You must be comfortable using GPS and other navigation equipment. Physical capabilities include attention to detail and ability to sit for extended periods.
